For a constant-voltage LED strip project, PWM2 Pro and PWM5 Pro offer two different Casambi-enabled controller options. Choose between them by checking the channels your lighting requires, the current on each channel and the combined load.
Specification comparison
The table below compares the CE versions listed by LED BY DESIGN. Check the exact version's current datasheet before specifying or installing it.
| Specification | PWM2 Pro | PWM5 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Output channels | 2 | 5 |
| Supply voltage | 12–24 VDC | 12–24 VDC |
| Combined maximum output current | 5 A across both channels | 10 A across all channels |
| Published channel limit | See datasheet for the permitted distribution of the 5 A total | 4 A per channel |
| Dimensions | 40 × 40 × 18 mm | 100 × 47 × 23 mm |
| LED load type | Constant voltage | Constant voltage |

When PWM2 Pro belongs on your shortlist
Consider PWM2 Pro when your application needs no more than two output channels and its load fits the published limits. Its smaller housing may also help where mounting space is limited. Confirm the mounting conditions and access requirements rather than relying on dimensions alone.
For tunable-white or other multichannel lighting, confirm the available Casambi profile and the strip's terminal arrangement. Two physical outputs alone do not confirm every desired control function.
When to investigate PWM5 Pro
PWM5 Pro provides more output channels and a higher combined current allowance. Investigate it for applications that need more than two channels, but check the intended profile and LED arrangement before committing to a specific colour-control configuration.
Its combined current rating does not remove the per-channel limit. A design can fit the total rating and still exceed the rating of one output.
A worked load example
Assume a single-colour 24 V strip consumes 9.6 watts per metre and the proposed run is five metres. The calculated load is 48 watts; dividing by 24 volts gives 2 amps. This is an illustrative calculation, not a specification for a particular strip.
The example shows why both watts and supply voltage matter. Repeat the calculation for each channel using the actual strip data, then assess the combined load. Account for manufacturer requirements, supply sizing, cable losses, temperature and installation conditions. A preliminary calculation does not replace the product's installation instructions.
Understand where the controller sits
Both products are described as being installed between a suitable DC supply and a constant-voltage LED load. They should not be selected to drive an LED module that requires a regulated constant current merely because the connector arrangement appears similar.
If you are controlling a constant-current module or a luminaire with an existing dimmable driver, start with our Casambi controller selection guide to identify the appropriate interface.
Before you order
- Confirm the strip voltage and electrical load from its documentation.
- List the required channels and control functions.
- Check the Casambi device profile for the proposed configuration.
- Assess individual output currents and combined current.
- Review the exact model's datasheet, installation conditions and certification documents.
Frequently asked questions
Can PWM5 Pro supply 10 amps on a single channel?
No. Its published specification lists a 4 A limit per channel and a 10 A combined limit.
Does PWM2 Pro provide 5 amps on each channel?
The product page states a 5 A total shared between its two channels. Do not treat that as a separate 5 A allowance for each channel.
Can I connect these directly to mains power?
No. The listed input is 12–24 VDC. Follow the exact product's wiring instructions and use an appropriately specified supply.
